Forum on sustance abuse this Tuesday

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

State Representative Rhonda Nyman (D-Hanover) and State Senator Thomas
Kennedy (D-Brockton) are hosting a public forum on substance abuse on
Tuesday, September 30th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Hanover High
School Auditorium, 297 Cedar Street. The forum is open to the public.

“Substance abuse is an epidemic that does not discriminate,” said Rep.
Nyman. “The goal of this forum is to raise awareness and talk about
prevention strategies as well as talk about the resources that are
available for those who need help.”

Rep. Nyman will be hosting this event with Massachusetts Department of
Public Health Commissioner Cheryl Bartlett. Chairwoman of the Joint
Committee on Mental Health and Substance Abuse Elizabeth Malia will be on
hand to discuss to recently passed Long-Term Substance Abuse Recovery Act
which was signed into law by the Governor on August 6th of this year.
Joanne Peterson, Founder and Executive Director of the Learn to Cope, will
explain how her organization works to prevent substance abuse and how their
peer support group can help people recover.
