Serve democracy and our community

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

I always leave our Memorial Day parade thankful…for our brave veterans,
devoted public safety officers, talented high school musicians, the
ingenuity of antique cars, and for our spirited community, among countless
other things. Memorial Day is genuinely a time to honor community
servants, especially those who have given so much.

In that vein, I write to offer you a chance to be a small but important
part of that community service. Every year, sometimes two or three or even
four times a year, Hanover goes to the polls to select our elected
officials. This coming fiscal year, we will choose our Presidential
nominees from each party on Super Tuesday in March of 2016, and then our
Hanover town officials in May of 2016. All of that leads up to the
September State Primary and November General Election in the following
fiscal year.

The right to vote was given to us by our forefathers and guaranteed to us
by the men and women who marched in that parade today. But the gift of
Election Day does not just magically happen. There is a great deal of work
that goes on behind the scenes and on the day of the election itself.
Would you like to be a part of implementing that gift? Would you consider
playing an important role in our democracy by working at the polls?

Your town needs you! Please see the attached job postings and consider
applying today. Appointments are on a yearly basis and applications are
due June 15th. Training information will be provided to successful
applicants. For more information, please contact me, Town Clerk Cathy
Harder-Bernier, at catherine.harderbernier@hanover-ma.gov . Or, jump in
headfirst for your chance to serve your community by sending in your cover
letter and resume to Ann Lee at ann.lee@hanover-ma.gov today!
