The week around the Fourth of July is always a slow news week…hence the
following e-blast. :)
At their recent state-wide Annual Meeting, the Massachusetts Town Clerks’
Association (MTCA) nominated and elected Hanover Town Clerk Catherine
Harder-Bernier to become a member of the MTCA Executive Board.
The MTCA Executive Board is charged with carrying out the mission of the
MTCA and has general charge and control of its affairs, funds and property.
The Executive Board has the authority to create policies and procedures
for officers and committees of the MTCA. The Board also supports the five
officers of the MTCA as they carry out the functions of the Association.
The Board consists of nine Town Clerks from across the Commonwealth.
“It is truly an honor to be selected to this important role in my
state’s professional organization”, said Harder-Bernier. “I had
expressed interest in a lesser role, the Legislative Committee, and when I
was asked to consider applying for a spot on the E-Board, I certainly did
not expect to be nominated. My short three years as a Town Clerk have been
extraordinary, however, so I must have caught someone’s attention! I
will be serving along with some of the brightest minds and distinguished
servants of this Commonwealth. I am simply flattered to be among them”,
remarked Harder-Bernier.
“The Massachusetts Town Clerks’ Association is thrilled to have Hanover
Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier join our Executive Board”, said
President Andrew Dowd. “Ms. Harder-Bernier joins a team of dedicated
volunteers who put in tremendous effort to ensure our members receive
first-rate educational opportunities and professional guidance. The Town
of Hanover is fortunate to have such a dedicated and well respected Town
Clerk”, continued Dowd.
Harder-Bernier was also recently re-elected to a second term as Hanover’s
Town Clerk, where she topped the ticket among all candidates.
Harder-Bernier was sworn in to her new MTCA Executive Board role at a
banquet held by the MTCA on June 16th. Her term of office will begin July
1st and will be for three years, and she will serve alongside President
Andrew Dowd, Town Clerk from Northborough, who was re-elected to a second
one year term at the same Annual Meeting, First Vice-President Jeremy
Gillis, Town Clerk from Easton, Second Vice-President Marie Ryan, Town
Clerk from Great Barrington, Treasurer Danielle Sicard, Town Clerk from
Walpole, Secretary Elizabeth Greendale, Town Clerk from Holliston,
Executive Board member Kelly McElreath, Town Clerk from Upton, and
Executive Board member Diane Packer, Town Clerk of Natick.
