ADULT PROGRAMS:

Tuesday, December 19
3:00-7:00pm
Local Author, Kate MacLeod Emery, discusses her latest book, a memoir
entitled, EIGHTY IS THE NEW FORTY: MY HIGHWAY OF LIFE. Her book is for
sale and she will autograph them upon request.

Tuesday, January 9, 2018
7:00-8:30pm
SCOTT, AMUNDSEN, AND SHACKLETON: RACE TO THE POLE
In 1900 Antarctica represented the last major unclaimed area of the world.
Great Britain would launch an expedition to explore and claim this hostile
region for her Empire. A young Royal Navy officer, Robert Falcon Scott, was
chosen to head this mission. Scott would fail in his attempt to reach the
Pole but in death, would soar in English status as a “True, noble, gallant
Englishman”. Others including Amundsen and Shackleton would risk their
lives to reach the pole. Why would they risk so much…for some it was the
hope of fame and glory. For others, it was to serve the Empire. Join local
historian, Bob Begin for another entertaining evening at the library.

Sunday, January 28—SAVE THE DATE!

SWING FEVER CONCERT
Get your toes tapping as Steve Rudolph’s Swing Fever Trio applies its
distinctive jazz styling to the music of George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Duke
Ellington and much more. It’s a joyous sampling of the best of American
popular music of the ‘30s, ‘40s and ‘50s. Pianist/vocalist Steve
Rudolph, founder of the Swing Fever Trio, has performed extensively for
over 40 years both in the United States and in Europe in venues ranging
from jazz clubs to churches. Steve is joined by Alan Trebat on drums and
Michael Ball on Bass. This is a co-sponsored event and will be held at The
Hanover Senior Center.

Tuesday, January 30—SAVE THE DATE!
4:00-8:00pm
MOVIE SERIES AND DISCUSSION
“Dinner with Beatriz”
View the movie which will begin at 4pm followed by a discussion about the
film from 645-7:45pm. Join Library Director Dana Mastroianni as she
presents the movie and welcomes all, their ideas, and reflections on this
highly relevant commentary on the divides in modern America. The movie
stars Salma Hayek, John Lithgow, and Chloe Sevigny.

PICTURE BOOK TIME
Story time for three and four-year-olds, without adults.

Monday, December 18
11:00-11:30am
PATTYCAKE
Lap-sit story time for babies ranging from newborn to 17 months, with a
parent or caregiver.

Tuesdays, December 19 and 26
4:00-5:00pm
LEGO/DOMINO DAY
Children four and older are welcome to drop-in and build and play with Lego
and dominoes for an hour. Lego creations will be put on display in the
children’s room.

Wednesdays, December 20 and 27
10:15-10:45am
TODDLER TIME
Story time for children 18 to 35 months with a parent or caregiver. Some
of the materials we may use include picture books, songs, flannel board
stories, and puppets.

Saturday, December 23
11:00-noon
Design your own art and craft projects using a wide variety of provided
materials at KIDS CRAZY CRAFT TIME. An example of a fall-themed craft will
be on hand if children wish to follow it, but we encourage inventiveness
and individuality. Get creative and go wild! For all ages.

Monday, January 8
5:30-6:30pm
CHESS CLUB FOR KIDS
Are your kids interested in playing chess or learning to play? If so, join
this new group on the first Monday of each month from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. at
the library. It will be interactive – with parents and kids helping each
other to learn to play, as well as more experienced players having a chance
to play against one another. Bring your chess set if you have one, but
there will be some extras there as well. Dates are as follows: December 4,
January 8 (since the first Monday is a holiday), February 5, March 5, April
2, May 7 and June 4. At that time the group can decide if they should
continue through the summer or wait and pick up next fall. For any
