Children’s music program at the John Curtis Library

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Children’s Music Program at John Curtis Library–Tuesday, January 15,
3:00–3:45 p.m.

Tuned Up is a music-infused literary program that works singing, playing
instruments and movement into children’s books, old and new. Instructor
Eileen Wilson chooses a book and writes music inspired by the story,
characters and tone. In the program, she first introduces the book and
teaches the songs to the children, while playing guitar or ukulele. Some
require instrumental accompaniment that children play on xylophones and
percussion instruments. Others use scarves, ribbons, or other movement
manipulatives. After the group practices each song, Eileen reads the story
aloud, working each song into a different part of the story. Though geared
towards the 5-8 age bracket, younger and older participants would enjoy it
as well. This month’s class will feature the story The Mitten.

The program is funded by the Friends of the Library.
