Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n
Long-time readers will remember the good work of Hanover’s own Kerline
\nTofuri of Jou Nouvo. Kerline and her family are great friends to many of
\nus, and she has been featured here on ATOTW more than once over the years.
\nI was delighted when the Hanover Mariner picked up the story, too. Kerline
\npaused at the new year and at nearly the first anniversary of the earthquake
\nin Haiti to pen all of us the following letter:<\/p>\n
On behalf of Jou Nouvo (JN), I would like to express my deepest thanks for
\nyour support in 2010. Thank you to all of you who donated lots of medical
\nand school supplies, clothes and shoes, tents, comfort dolls, and monetary
\ndonations to help families in Haiti. My deepest gratitude to all teachers,
\nGirl and Boy Scouts and other community groups, and parents and their
\nchildren who coordinated book sales and bake sales, collected and donated
\nbooks and backpacks filled with school supplies-and to the youth who sent
\nwritten notes and made posters for children in Haiti. The world will never
\nforget what happened on January 12th in Haiti. I will never forget your
\ncompassion, generosity, and your quick response in reaching out to those in
\nneed. <\/p>\n
Your on-going support enabled Jou Nouvo to quickly respond to devastating
\ncrisises. We continue to advocate for comprehensive and sustainable projects
\nthat will undoubtedly change many lives and communities for the better.<\/p>\n
In 2011, I look forward to continuing to work with Partners In Development
\n(PID) and to expand Jou Nouvo’s programs to end the cycle of poverty,
\nhunger, and diseases. With your help, Jou Nouvo will continue to promote
\nliteracy, economic development, and better health for families in Bon-Repos,
