THOMAS has been selected as the recipient of the 10th<br \/>\nAnnual Spirit of Hanover Community Service Award.<\/p>\n<p>This Award is presented annually to an individual who best exemplifies the<br \/>\nspirit of Hanover by voluntarily giving selflessly of their time, energy and<br \/>\ntalent to the Town and its citizens thus enriching our lives, fostering a<br \/>\ntrue sense of community and inspiring us all to a higher level of service.  <\/p>\n<p>Hal&#8217;s considerable efforts include involvement with the First Congregational<br \/>\nChurch of Hanover where, among many other contributions, he has led numerous<br \/>\nmissions for adults and youth to assist in national disaster relief efforts,<br \/>\nmost recently to benefit earthquake victims in Haiti; the Hanover Open Space<br \/>\nCommittee where he serves as co-chair and has worked with Eagle Scout<br \/>\ncandidates in support of open space initiatives;  the Hanover Council on<br \/>\nAging where his contributions include coordination and leadership of the<br \/>\nCOA&#8217;s Senior Men&#8217;s Discussion Group; the Phoenix Lodge as a member,<br \/>\nchaplain, Angel Fund Committee member and Director;  the Hanover Historical<br \/>\nSociety;  the Hanover Food Pantry which is a beneficiary of Hal&#8217;s annual<br \/>\nroadside flower stand;  the Friends of the Stetson House; and the Hanover<br \/>\nGarden Club. Hal&#8217;s woodworking skills have provided the town with a restored<br \/>\nand displayed Boston Post Cane, on view in the Town Hall Lobby, along with a<br \/>\nhandcrafted oak atlas stand in use at the John Curtis Free Library.  <\/p>\n<p>Please join us for a reception to honor <\/p>\n<p>HAROLD (Hal) D.
