{"id":1128,"date":"2011-03-25T14:26:22","date_gmt":"2011-03-25T18:26:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/atotw.com\/archive\/?p=1128"},"modified":"2011-03-25T14:26:22","modified_gmt":"2011-03-25T18:26:22","slug":"program-on-collaborative-problem-solving","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atotw.com\/archive\/?p=1128","title":{"rendered":"Program on Collaborative Problem Solving"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n<p>The Hanover Parent Advisory Council presents nationally known expert Dr.<br \/>\nRoss Greene on Collaborative Problem Solving:  skills for understanding and<br \/>\nhelping kids with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges on Tuesday,<br \/>\nApril 5th, 7:00 p.m. &#8211; 9:00 p.m. at the Hanover Middle School Library, 45<br \/>\nWhiting Street.<\/p>\n<p>This seminar is for parents, teachers and caregivers looking for answers to<br \/>\nquestions like:<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Why is this kid acting this way??<\/p>\n<p>&quot;How come what works for other kids isn&#8217;t working for this one?? <\/p>\n<p>&quot;What can I do instead??<\/p>\n<p>Ross W. Greene, Ph.D., is the originator of a model of psychosocial<br \/>\ntreatment for challenging kids called Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS),<br \/>\nas described in his books The Explosive Child and Lost at School.  He is<br \/>\nAssociate Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard<br \/>\nMedical School, on the professional staff in the Department of Psychology at<br \/>\nthe Cambridge Health Alliance, adjunct Associate Professor in the Department<br \/>\nof Psychology at Virginia Tech, and Senior Lecturer in the school psychology<br \/>\nprogram in the Department of Education at Tufts University.  <\/p>\n<p>Dr. Greene is also the founder of a non-profit organization called Lives in<br \/>\nthe Balance &#8211; which aims to provide advocacy and support for behaviorally<br \/>\nchallenging kids and their parents, teachers, and other caregivers, and to<br \/>\ndisseminate the CPS model through no-cost web-based programming.  He<br \/>\nconsults extensively to general and special education schools, inpatient and<br \/>\nresidential facilities, and systems of juvenile detention, and lectures<br \/>\nwidely throughout the world.<\/p>\n<p>The Hanover Parent Advisory Council is a parent group whose mission is to<br \/>\nwork toward understanding, respect, support and appropriate education for<br \/>\nall children with learning differences in our community.
