Appearing in the 2011 Annual Town Meeting Warrant will be Article 16:<\/p>\n
ARTICLE 16. To see if the Town will authorize the Board of Selectmen to
\npetition the Great and General Court of the Commonwealth to enact special
\nlegislation that would exempt the position of Deputy Fire Chief from the
\nprovisions of the Civil Service Law and Rules, or take any other action
\nrelative thereto.<\/p>\n
After the positive recommendation of Civil Service by the Civil Service
\nStudy Committee and unanimous support at the 2004 Annual Town Meeting, Civil
\nService was enacted for the Town of Hanover Fire Department in 2004. Seven
\nyears later, Article 16 of the 2011 Annual Town Meeting proposes to remove
\nthe Deputy Fire Chief position from the provisions of Civil Service. On
\nThursday, April 14, at approximately 7:45 p.m., the Board of Selectmen will
\nallow those with questions and concerns about this issue to be heard. The
\npublic is encouraged to attend the meeting that will be held in the large
\nhearing room of Town Hall. <\/p>\n
