Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n
Article 28 at this week\u2019s Annual Town Meeting introduces a request
\nfor $75,000 \u201cfor the demolition or repair of the Curtis School\u201d. <\/p>\n
A facilities study for the town recently made the following
\nrecommendation for the future of Curtis School:<\/p>\n
\u201cBased upon evaluation of this building, and upon consideration of
\nthe various needs expressed by members of the community and the Town
\nadministration, our recommendation to salvage only the basic exterior
\nhistoric envelope of this building, to the extent possible, and to
\nrestructure, redesign, and reconstruct the building to serve as a
\nsatellite fire station serving the north end of town.<\/p>\n
Prior to undertaking this work, a program of stabilization of the
\ncurrent structure needs to be put into action, in order to prevent
\nfurther deterioration. And a design project should be undertaken, to
\nstudy the feasibility of re-use in more depth, including a program for
\nthe proposed satellite fire station, schematic designs, and cost
\nestimates.\u201d<\/p>\n
