Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n
The Hanover High School Sports Boosters (HHSS Boosters) raise money
\nfor the athletes and sports programs at the high school. In these
\ntough economic times, some of the sports remain unfunded at the high
\nschool. The athletic budget has been cut by $150,000 in the past two
\nyears, so the trickledown effect is that individual sport budgets have
\nbeen cut and this negatively affects our student athletes.<\/p>\n
Recently the HHSS Boosters have helped four unfunded sports and
\nsupplied items that were eliminated from the athletic budget. Starting
\nthis year, the Boosters have paid for any senior that attended any
\nhome game. The HHSS Boosters also use funds raised to purchase varsity
\nletters, pins and bars, banners for the gym, senior day flowers,
\ncrowns and gifts for the homecoming court, and scholarships for
\nseniors.<\/p>\n
However, with the new school construction underway, the Boosters have
\nnot had their main source of fundraising, which was the concession
\nstand, for the past two seasons.<\/p>\n
The HHSS Boosters is doing new and exciting things this year. They
\nhave a membership drive going on to keep in contact with families and
\nthey have changed the format of the sports banquets to a \u201cWrap Up
\nRally\u201d. They also had their second annual Holiday Blitz, which is
\nnow a big fundraiser. Their biggest fundraiser, the Patriots
\nBasketball game, is coming June 21, 2011. The game will take place at
\nthe new Hanover High School gym. This event is always a huge family
\nfavorite, and tickets are still available. Don\u2019t miss out!<\/p>\n
Many people have asked, \u201cWhat does Boosters do?\u201d and \u201cWhere does
\nthe money go?\u201d The Boosters hope this clears up those questions and
\nmakes you want to become a Booster member. <\/p>\n
