The Friends of the Stetson House will host a slide presentation by
\nSteven O’Shaughnessy on Wednesday, August 31st at 7:00 p.m. at the
\nJohn Curtis Library large meeting room.<\/p>\n
Steven O’Shaughnessy is the Department Head of Preservation Carpentry
\nof the renowned North Bennet Street School. Mr. O’Shaughnessy oversaw
\nthe dismantling and labeling of the “Albert White Barn” with the help
\nof his students. He will discuss the barn, its historic significance
\nand address questions from the audience.<\/p>\n
The Friends of the Stetson House have been exploring possibly moving
\nthe dismantled “Albert White Barn” to the Stetson House property. The
\nhistoric barn was part of the 645 Center Street property purchased by
\nthe town at the recommendation of the Community Preservation Committee
\nat town meeting four years ago. It is believed this historic barn was
\noriginally built in the late 1700’s to very early 1800’s and that only
\nten such barns still exist in the United States. Currently the barn is
\nbeing stored in a trailer and all sections of the barn have been
\nlabeled and marked by the North Bennet Street School for the benefit
\nof Hanover. <\/p>\n
