Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n
Come celebrate the artwork of South Shore art teachers! The John
\nCurtis Free Library (Hanover) will host \/Beyond the Classroom: An
\nExhibition of Original Works by South Shore Art Educators \/from August
\n30 until September 29, 2011.<\/p>\n
Many art teachers will participate from towns including Abington,
\nAvon, Rockland, Hull, Cohasset, Scituate, Hanover, Marshfield,
\nPembroke, Duxbury, Hingham, and Plymouth. Artwork will be in many
\ntypes of media from sculptures to prints to paintings. <\/p>\n
This is not a traditional juried art show; however, a panel of judges
\nwill be selecting pieces for honor awards in two categories: Best in
\nthe Show (1 award) and Judge’s Choice (3 awards). The panel of judges
\nincludes Kathy Soles (artist, MFA, painting), Lisa Doyle-Bates (owner,
\nFernwood Gallery), and Dave Petty (owner, The Frame Center and the
\nNathan Gallery). <\/p>\n
This event is FREE and open to the public in the large meeting room on
\nthe ground floor of the library. The Opening Reception will be held on
\nTuesday, August 30th from 6:00 \u2013 8:00 p.m. at the John Curtis Free
\nLibrary in Hanover. Honor awards will be announced at 7:00 p.m. at the
\nOpening Reception. All are cordially invited to attend and see what
\nour local art teachers are creating. <\/p>\n
This event is organized by Alison Palmucci (elementary art teacher,
\nCedar School, Hanover), Karen Cass (private instructor, Hanover), and
\nTracy Marchetti (Hanover resident and Chair of the Friends of the John
\nCurtis Free Library). It is supported by a grant from the
\nMassachusetts Cultural Council through the Hanover Cultural Council.
