Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n
The Town of Hanover Emergency Management Agency, Police,
\nFire\/Rescue\/EMS and DPW crews have been actively involved in the
\nmanagement of coordinated response to dozens of calls of trees down,
\nwires down and even calls of trees fallen into homes.<\/p>\n
As of this time (5:45 p.m.) thankfully there have been no injuries
\nreported.<\/p>\n
The Emergency Response Personnel from the Town have been organized
\ninto strike teams to respond as a unified and comprehensive package
\nconsisting of police officers, firefighters and DPW personnel and
\nequipment. This response methodology has worked well in rapid response
\nand clearance of dozens of calls.<\/p>\n
We understand that many residents have incurred damage to their
\nproperty or have suffered the loss of trees on their property or are
\nwithout power. We have communicated each and every downed wire and
\npower outage report to National Grid that has been received since the
\nbeginning of the storm.<\/p>\n
The recovery from the storm is going to take time and we need to
\nemphasize the critical importance of assuming all wires are live and
\nto remain clear of them. Any roadways that are blocked are blocked
\nbecause they cannot be cleared because National Grid must first
\nrespond to the site to render safe any and all wires.<\/p>\n
Residents should be prepared for power service interruptions even
\nthough the storm is nearly over. This is because National Grid may
\nhave to shut power down for long periods to repair lines, transformers
\nand poles. Understand that this means you may have power shut down for
\nlong periods of time for no apparent reason. Please be prepared for
\nthis. The time is now to prepare for your lighting needs for tonight.
