Dear fellow Hanoverians:
\nSouth Shore Recycling Cooperative member towns will host four
\nhousehold hazardous waste collections this fall. Residents may attend
\ntheir own town’s event at no charge.
\nCollections are scheduled from 9:00 a.m. \u2013 1:00 p.m. as follows:<\/p>\n
*9\/24 Plymouth* DPW, 169 Camelot Drive
\n*10\/1 Weymouth* DPW, 120 Winter Street (Unwanted medications also
\naccepted)
\n*10\/29 Hanover* Transfer Station, (Route 139), with *Norwell *and
\n*Rockland*
\n*11\/7 Middleborough *Town Hall, 10 Nickerson Avenue (no paint)<\/p>\n
Residents of those and of member towns *Cohasset, Duxbury, Hingham,
\nKingston and Scituate *may attend other member towns\u2019 collections at
\ntheir own town\u2019s expense. To do so, request and bring a signed
\n*Authorization Form* from your town\u2019s Department of Public Works.
\nSome towns may limit subsidized quantities to 15 gallons or 30 pounds.
\nVisitors from any town without permission may attend for a fee of
\n$43\/15 gallons or 30 pounds of waste. Commercial generators may call
\nahead to (781) 879-4435 to arrange disposal and payment.
\n*Bring*: Oil based paint (except Middleboro), stains, solvents,
\ngasoline, automotive fluids, pesticides, photography and pool
\nchemicals, acids, bases, and poisons in secure, labeled containers.
\n*Do not bring:* industrial, pathological and medical waste,
\nradioactive materials, pressurized gas cylinders or explosives.
\n*Oil-based paint,* *propane tanks, motor oil, antifreeze, auto and
\nrechargeable batteries, and fluorescent lamps *are collected regularly
\nby some towns and some retailers. Residents should use those services

\nLatex paint and driveway sealer are *messy, but not hazardous*. If not
\nrecyclable as described below, dry with absorbent material and dispose
\nwith trash (keep lid off).
\n*Usable leftover latex paint* will be collected and recycled into new
\npaint products at locations near household hazardous waste events by
\nThe Paint Exchange LLC of North Scituate, MA. These pilot collections
\nare made possible by a grant provided by Mass DEP. For locations, and

\nResidents who turn in a* toxic mercury* thermometer, thermostat or
\nother mercury item may swap it for a digital thermometer. This program
\nis sponsored by *Covanta at SEMASS*.
