This just in from the good folks at the Hanover Food Pantry!<\/p>\n
The Hanover Emergency Food Pantry is so thankful to have had Hanover
\nMoms and all citizens pitching in to come to our assistance this past
\nweek. There is currently a brown bag food drive at St. Mary’s that is
\na huge success as well. <\/p>\n
We were stocking the shelves for hours this week! We even have some
\nitems to store in the back room (which has been empty most of the
\nsummer). At the end of summer and as clients get their children ready
\nfor school, we see a large increase in demand. This is a time that is
\nalso one of the lowest points in our available stock.<\/p>\n
It is such a comfort to look in the pantry and not see empty spots.
\nThe food pantry coordinators have been shopping like crazy over the
\nlast few weeks in an effort to keep up with the demand, but it all has
\ngone out as fast as it has come in. This week was a welcome change.<\/p>\n
Thanks to everyone in town who has contributed to the pantry. We would
\nnot be here if not for the generosity of Hanover citizens. <\/p>\n

(Editor’s note: The identity of the grass-roots e-mail chain writer
\nwas finally revealed to me earlier this week. Kudos and many thanks to
\nlong-time ATOTW reader Amy Barrett for starting the “Hanover Moms”
\nfood drive. She was shy about taking credit publicly, but I think her
\nexample is a good one that deserves mention as it may inspire others.
