Dear fellow Hanoverians:
\nJoin Hanover Open Space: November 6th, 9:00 a.m.
\nLooking for a way to get involved in your town; have a teenager that
\nneeds some community service time?<\/p>\n
Special places across Hanover need your help. Volunteer for a few
\nhours and you\u2019ll become part of the movement to protect Hanover\u2019s
\nlandscapes and landmarks for everyone, forever.<\/p>\n
Please join Hanover\u2019s Open Space Committee at the Stasiluk-Nava
\nproperty on Sunday, November 6th at 9:00 a.m. There is sure to be
\nsomething for everyone. We will clear brush from the field and stone
\nwall, as well there is an opportunity to help clear and restore an
\nexisting perennial flowerbed near the parking lot. Please wear layers.
\nBring clippers and gloves, if you have them. The property is located
\non Center Street in between Myrtle Street and the Senior Center. <\/p>\n
The OSC is on the lookout for individuals and groups from our
\ncommunity that want to take an active role in our trails and open
\nspaces. In conjunction with our existing trail walks, we will host a
\nseries of volunteer events in the coming year. We are happy to tailor
\nevents for a group, or provide opportunities for folks that have a
\nparticular interest. <\/p>\n
Volunteer Positions can vary from reporting on trail conditions,
\nmonitoring wildlife, offering to give a tour on your favorite trail:<\/p>\n
A few opportunities we can currently offer:
\n\u00b7 Trail Maintenance and Monitoring. Keep us up to date on your local
\ntrails\u2019 conditions and use.
\n\u00b7 Help install improved trail signage and marking at locations
\nthroughout town.
\n\u00b7 Historical research of open spaces throughout town.
\n\u00b7 Bird nest box monitoring at Nava Field on Center Street.
\n\u00b7 Vernal Pool Certifications. With little more than a clipboard and a
\ncamera you can help us officially certify some of the potential vernal
\npools in town.
\n\u00b7 Other ideas; let us know!<\/p>\n
Of course for some volunteer opportunities, there are specific skill
\nsets that would be important for a prospective volunteer to possess.
\nBut today the most important qualities are curiosity, willingness to
\ntake responsibility, and a willingness to learn about these wonderful
\nproperties and all they contain.<\/p>\n
