Come explore Hanover\u2019s newest open space: November 25th, 11:00 a.m.
\nNeed a way to burn off some turkey and pie? Avoiding Black Friday
\ncrowds? Please join Hanover\u2019s Open Space Committee (OSC) on Friday,
\nNovember 25th at 11:00 a.m. while we ramble over and around the 26
\nacres that we voted to acquire at 2011 Town Meeting. Located off of
\nCircuit Street, this lovely parcel was formerly managed as a tree
\nfarm, and offers a variety of terrains for everyone to enjoy. <\/p>\n
The OSC members will offer guided walks around the pond, through the
\nexisting wide dirt paths, on established trails, and for the more
\ndaring, venture further into the canopy for the site of future trails
\non the site. The property is located on the south side of Circuit
\nStreet between Hillside Drive and Winslow Street. There is limited
\nparking on the front of the property, on Circuit Street. Be sure to
\nbring your thinking caps, as the committee wants your ideas for a
\npermanent name for the parcel.<\/p>\n

Reminder: the Hanover Open Space Committee is on the lookout for
\nindividuals and groups from our community that want to take an active
\nrole in our trails and open spaces. In conjunction with our existing
\ntrail walks, we will host a series of volunteer events in the coming
\nyear. We are happy to tailor events for a group, or provide
\nopportunities for folks that have a particular interest. <\/p>\n
Volunteer Positions can vary from reporting on trail conditions,
\nmonitoring wildlife, offering to give a tour on your favorite trail:<\/p>\n
A few opportunities we can currently offer:
\n\u00b7 Trail Maintenance and Monitoring. Keep us up to date on your local
\ntrails\u2019 conditions and use.
\n\u00b7 Help install improved trail signage and marking at locations
\nthroughout town.
\n\u00b7 Historical research of open spaces throughout town
\n\u00b7 Bird nest box monitoring at Nava Field on Center Street.
\n\u00b7 Vernal pool certifications. With little more than a clipboard and a
\ncamera you can help us officially certify some of the potential vernal
\npools in town.
\n\u00b7 Other ideas, let us know!<\/p>\n
Of course for some volunteer opportunities, there are specific skill
\nsets that would be important for a prospective volunteer to possess.
\nBut today the most important qualities are curiosity, willingness to
\ntake responsibility, and a willingness to learn about these wonderful
\nproperties and all they contain.<\/p>\n
