All events are free and open<br \/>\nto the public, with no reservations required. Please join them! <\/p>\n<p>*Transition 101: from High School to Adulthood, *with Marilyn Weber of<br \/>\nthe Federation for Children with Special Needs\/. <\/p>\n<p>\/<br \/>\n*Tuesday, December 6, 2011, Hanover High School, 287 Cedar Street,<br \/>\nfirst floor, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.*<\/p>\n<p>This workshop will focus on the needs of students who are not expected<br \/>\nto pass the MCAS and graduate at the traditional age of 18. We will<br \/>\ndiscuss the effective use of the IEP and the Massachusetts Transition<br \/>\nPlanning Form for students who are ages 14 \u2013 22. It has been shown<br \/>\nthat individualized, person centered planning of curriculum and<br \/>\nsupports throughout high school leads to better post high school<br \/>\noutcomes and opportunities in education, training, and\/or employment<br \/>\nfor students with disabilities. Discussion will include the age of<br \/>\nmajority, self determination and self advocacy, life skill development<br \/>\nand preparing students to pursue as independent an adult life as<br \/>\npossible.<\/p>\n<p>*What is the Hanover Parent Advisory Council?*<br \/>\nThe *PAC* is a parent group whose mission is to work toward<br \/>\nunderstanding, respect, support and appropriate education for all<br \/>\nchildren with learning differences in our community. The *Hanover PAC*<br \/>\nwill provide an opportunity for parents to network and share<br \/>\ninformation as well as a way to work constructively with our schools<br \/>\nto make them the best they can be for all children.<br \/>\nCheck out our web site www.hanovermasspac.webs.com<\/p>\n<p> for further information and upcoming events.
