{"id":1444,"date":"2012-01-13T10:40:03","date_gmt":"2012-01-13T14:40:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/atotw.com\/archive\/?p=1444"},"modified":"2012-01-13T10:40:03","modified_gmt":"2012-01-13T14:40:03","slug":"what-are-we-eating-with-the-y","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atotw.com\/archive\/?p=1444","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;What are we eating?&#8221; with the Y"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n<p>The South Shore YMCA in Hanover, the South Shore Natural Science<br \/>\nCenter and Sustainable Hanover are collaborating to empower and<br \/>\neducate healthy eating, sustainability, community connection and<br \/>\nenvironmental responsibility through a thought-provoking film series<br \/>\ncalled &#8220;\/What ARE We Eating?&#8221;\/<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur collaborative effort began with an idea to build a garden in<br \/>\n2009\u201d says Kim Engle, Arts and Education Director at the South Shore<br \/>\nYMCA; \u201cwe collaborated with Sustainable Hanover and found ourselves<br \/>\nwith a portable greenhouse, a successful sustainability fundraising<br \/>\nevent and the realization that we need to do more education.\u201d<br \/>\nSustainable Hanover and the South Shore YMCA continued their joint<br \/>\nefforts with a few small film events, kids\u2019 events and teen events.<br \/>\nIn September of 2011, the Y began its official partnership with the<br \/>\nSouth Shore Natural Science Center and the film series was realized. <\/p>\n<p>The series begins on January 19th at 7:00 p.m. at the South Shore<br \/>\nNatural Science Center with the film \/Food Matters\/ and continues on<br \/>\nthe 3rd Thursday of each month through March. Each month will feature<br \/>\na different film, discussion, and guest speakers centered around<br \/>\ncommunity, food, nutrition, farming, and sustainability. This<br \/>\nmonth\u2019s film is:<\/p>\n<p>January 19, 2012<br \/>\n\/Food Matters\/ &#8212; but is it the answer to cancer?
