The Hanover Cultural Council is<br \/>\nexcited to announce *Kite Day* for Hanover&#8217;s children. On Saturday,<br \/>\nApril 14, Dr. Wallace Kemp will again open his field at 688 Main<br \/>\nStreet from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. to anyone interested in flying a<br \/>\nkite (pending good weather). This field is situated on a hill which<br \/>\naffords wonderful kite-flying on a moderately windy day. As the field<br \/>\nis part of larger conservation area of the Wildlands Trust of<br \/>\nSoutheastern Massachusetts, there is plenty of space for all. Don<br \/>\nMcCasland, the Program Director of the Blue Hill Observatory and an<br \/>\navid kite-lover, will also be at the field to provide great tips on<br \/>\nkite-flying technique.<\/p>\n<p>In conjunction with this event, the Friends of the John Curtis Free<br \/>\nLibrary will host a *kite-making program* on Saturday, April 14 from<br \/>\n10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. downstairs at the John Curtis Free Library.<br \/>\nDon McCasland will provide kite kits and show you how to construct<br \/>\nyour kite. This event is recommended to children ages 4-8 with a<br \/>\nparent and for 8 and over without a parent (the parent must otherwise<br \/>\nremain in the library). The program lasts for about an hour. These<br \/>\nactivities are free (funded by the Hanover Cultural Council and the<br \/>\nFriends of the John Curtis Free Library) and open to the public, but<br \/>\nyou must register your child to make a kite at the children&#8217;s<br \/>\ncirculation desk at the library. There are 40 spaces reserved from<br \/>\n10:15 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., another 40 spaces from 11:15 a.m. to 12:00<br \/>\np.m.<br \/>\nFor more information about the Friends of the John Curtis Library,<br \/>\ncontact Tracy Marchetti at tjmarchetti@verizon.net<\/p>\n<p> .
