Included for sunny spots are colorful
daylilies, iris, Shasta daisies, and ornamental grasses, shade
dwelling hosta, astilbe and other hardy plants, plus ground covers,
shrubs and more.

Said Arienti, “We are digging and dividing plants now in our
members’ gardens, so we will have nice big clumps of hardy local
plants. All will do well in our local environment. There will also be
divisions of the great plants featured on our traffic islands, like
the big white Shasta daisies and blue irises on the island in front of
St. Mary’s Church. Once established, many of these plants are
drought tolerant, especially important when we may have a very dry
summer.”

This is the third time the Walnut Hill sale will be held at theFirst
Congregational Church’s Riley Hall. “The Riley Hall is ideally
situated since it’s right in the center of town with great parking
in front and behind the hall,” offered Arienti. “We have been
alternating years for our plant sale with our sister club in town, the
Hanover Garden Club, so there will always be a town plant sale
organized by one or the other of our clubs offering the chance to buy
hardy plants at great prices.” She suggests shoppers come early for
the best selection, and recommends you bring plant trays, crates and
boxes to carry purchases home.
Sales proceeds will benefit Hanover beautification projects.

For more information, contact Nancy Arienti at 781-829-6977 or e-mail:
walnuthillma@hotmail.com
.

For “Around Town on the Web”,
Cathy H-B

—
“Around Town on the Web” (“ATOTW”) is a community service that has been
provided to self-selected residents of the Town of Hanover since the spring
of 2004.
For submission guidelines and answers to frequently asked questions about
“ATOTW”, please go to http://www.atotw.com.
To search for archived “ATOTW” news, view the archive.
If you would like to be added to this distribution list, click here.
