Songwriter\/singer\/guitarist Jay Mankita will perform his \u201cBig Dream
\nSongbook\u201d on Wednesday, July 11 at 4:00 p.m. to officially begin the
\nJohn Curtis Library\u2019s summer reading program for children. Jay plays
\nfun, funky songs on electric and acoustic guitars and invites
\nparticipation by kids of all ages and their families.

\nMankita is also an environmental activist and tours in his
\nrecycled-vegetable-oil-powered van. After the concert, he will give a
\nshort presentation outdoors during which he tells families about the
\nvan and how we can all help to care for the environment.
\n* *
\nRegistration for the library\u2019s summer reading program will begin
\nafter the show. Children who sign up for summer reading will receive
\nreading logs and be eligible to earn prizes throughout the summer
\nbased on how much they read. This year\u2019s summer reading theme is
\n\u201cDream Big– READ\u201d. The statewide summer reading program is
\nsponsored by your local library, the Massachusetts Library System, the
\nBoston Bruins, and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.

\nThe concert is funded by the Friends of the John Curtis Library. Free
\ntickets are available at the children\u2019s room desk. For more
