Dear fellow Hanoverians:
\nWe all received the call on Friday regarding the town\u2019s new water
\nrestrictions, and I don\u2019t know about you, but I for one was not home
\nwhen the call came in, and I always appreciate a written version of a
\nverbal message! Remember too that this will now be in the ATOTW
\narchives (link at the bottom of every e-mail) for your reference as
\nthe summer continues. Special thanks to DPW Director Victor Diniak for
\ne-mailing me on a Sunday with the following information:
\nJuly 20, 2012
\nHANOVER WATER RESTRICTIONS
\nDue to water demand exceeding the ability of the Town\u2019s well fields
\nto adequately supply such demand, and the lack of appreciable amounts
\nof rain predicted in the immediate future, the Hanover Town Manager
\nhas declared a State of Water Supply Conservation under Town Bylaw
\n6-24. Effective immediately, the outdoor use of water is restricted to
\nodd numbered homes on odd days and even numbered homes on even days
\nbetween the hours of 6 am to 9 am and 6 pm to 9 pm. During this
\nperiod, outdoor water use shall be limited to hand held hoses only.
\nThe use of sprinklers of any kind is prohibited. The restrictions will
\nbe reevaluated as fall rains return groundwater levels to their normal
\nstate. Any person violating the water restrictions shall be liable to
\nthe Town in the amount of $50.00 for the first violation and $100.00
\nfor each subsequent violation in accordance with the Hanover Town
\nBy-Law 6-24. Private wells must be registered at the DPW office
\n(781-826-3189) and a \u201cPRIVATE WELL\u201d sign put out. This restriction
\nis necessary to ensure an adequate supply of water for drinking and
\nfor firefighting purposes. Residents with questions regarding these
\nrestrictions may contact the offices of the Hanover DPW at
\n781-826-3189.<\/p>\n
