Dear fellow Hanoverians:
\n*Volunteer Your Time After School in the Hanover High School Library!*
\nThe Hanover PTA is looking for volunteers that will volunteer just a
\nfew hours of their time, from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., on any day,
\nMonday through Thursday, to supervise students at the Hanover High
\nSchool Library after school. Students will not be allowed to check out
\nbooks or materials, but rather will have access to the book
\ncollections and the computers, and have a quiet place to meet and
\nstudy afterschool until 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursdays.
\nIn the past, the library closed at the end of the school day and
\ntherefore had been unavailable to students seeking a quiet place to do
\nhomework or research. Then, last year, the HPTA helped to put together
\na group of volunteers that monitored the library in order to keep it
\nopen for a few hours after school. The program was very well received
\nby students and widely used; hundreds of students took advantage of a
\ngreat opportunity. So the HPTA and the After School Library group
\nwould like to continue it again in the 2012-2013 school year and they
\nare seeking more volunteers to help cover all the shifts.
\nThe task is very easy; volunteers sit at the main desk and maintain
\nadult supervision in the library. They are free to read and\/or work on
\nthe computer, then simply shut the lights off and lock the doors at
\n4:00 p.m. Volunteers are asked to work from 2:00 \u2013 4:00 p.m. once a
\nweek, once a month or any schedule that works for them. They’d just
\nlike to ensure every slot is covered and that they never have to close
\nthe library Mondays through Thursdays until 4:00 p.m. throughout the
\nschool year.
