The Hanover Cultural Council is now seeking funding proposals for
\ncommunity-oriented arts, humanities, and science programs! <\/p>\n
The Hanover Cultural Council has set an October 15 postmark deadline
\nfor organizations, schools and individuals to apply for grants that
\nsupport cultural activities in the community. <\/p>\n
According to Council Chairperson Katie Duff, these grants may support
\na variety of artistic projects and activities in Hanover including
\nexhibits, festivals, field trips, short-term artist residencies or
\nperformances in schools, workshops and lectures. <\/p>\n
The Hanover Cultural Council is part of a network of 329 Local
\nCultural Councils (LCC) serving all 351 cities and towns in the
\nCommonwealth. The LCC Program is the largest grassroots cultural
\nfunding network in the nation, supporting thousands of community-based
\nprojects in the arts, sciences and humanities every year. The state
\nlegislature provides an annual appropriation to the Massachusetts
\nCultural Council, a state agency, which then allocates funds to each
\ncommunity. <\/p>\n
This year, the Hanover Cultural Council will distribute about $3,870
\nin state funded grants. Previously funded projects include: Plimouth
\nPlantation and Heritage Museum library passes, Whale Day at Hanover
\nMiddle School, an \u201cIntroduction to Birding in Hanover\u201d with
\nMassachusetts Audubon, artists in residence in the Hanover Schools,
\nand sponsorship of groups in Hanover including the Harbor Choral Arts
\nSociety and the Hanover Diversity Committee.<\/p>\n
