\nOn Monday, October 22, join historian Chris Daley at the Hanover
\nLibrary as he presents a slide lecture in which the many facets of the
\nearly Irish experience in Boston are examined. Included will be the
\nimmigration of the Irish into Boston before and after the great Potato
\nFamine and also the corresponding increase of Anti-Irish sentiment
\nwith the burning of the Ursulin in 1834 and the Broad Street Riot in
\n1837. There will also be a discussion of the rise of the Irish within
\nthe sphere of Boston politics. The program is sponsored by the Friends
\nof the John Curtis Library. There is no charge for admission and
\nrefreshments will be served.
