*\/Description: \/*Katy Shamitz, founder and director of Skills for
\nLiving, will lead parents through a discussion on true friendship, as
\nopposed to \u201cfrenemies.\u201d She will guide parents on how to help
\ntheir children learn how to manage conflict, senseless drama, and set
\nthe stage for positive, healthy friendships. <\/p>\n

\nKaty is a certified school counselor in Massachusetts. She received
\nher undergraduate degree in Education and Psychology from Stonehill
\nCollege in Easton, Massachusetts and her Masters in Counseling from
\nSouthern Connecticut State University in New Haven, Connecticut. Katy
\nhas extensive experience working with children and adolescents, from
\ntoddlers to college students. Katy\u2019s background in school counseling
\nhas given her a thorough understanding of the challenges, both social
\nand academic, that young people encounter on a daily basis. With a
\nresearch and practical background in childhood bullying, Katy
\nunderstands the emotional stress of peer relationships, and has
\ndeveloped useful techniques for overcoming bullying.<\/p>\n
