\n*Do you have scary stuff in your cellar?*

\nHanover will host a household hazardous waste collection day this
\nspring. Residents may attend at no charge.
\nThe collection is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. \u2013 1:00 p.m. on *April 27
\n*at the Hanover Transfer Station, 118 Rockland Street.<\/p>\n
*Bring*: Oil based paint, stains, solvents, gasoline, automotive
\nfluids, pesticides, photography and pool chemicals, acids, bases, and
\npoisons in secure, labeled containers.
\n*Do not bring:* industrial, pathological and medical waste,
\nradioactive materials, pressurized gas cylinders or explosives.
\n*Motor oil, propane tanks, appliances (some for a fee), auto and
\nrechargeable batteries, and fluorescent lamps *are collected regularly
\nat the transfer station.
\nLatexpaints and driveway sealers are *messy, but not hazardous*. If
\nnot recyclable as described below, absorb liquid with cat litter and
\ndispose in trash. *Usable leftover latex paint* will be accepted and
\nrecycled into new paint products at The Paint Exchange LLC of North
\nScituate for a fee of $2. To see if your paint qualifies for
\nrecycling, and for hours of operation, go to www.ssrcoop.info<\/p>\n
and click on “latex paint.
\nResidents who turn in a* toxic mercury* thermometer, thermostat or
\nother mercury item may swap it for a digital thermometer. This program
\nis sponsored by *Covanta at SEMASS*.
