{"id":1904,"date":"2013-05-12T17:00:10","date_gmt":"2013-05-12T21:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/atotw.com\/archive\/?p=1904"},"modified":"2013-05-12T17:00:10","modified_gmt":"2013-05-12T21:00:10","slug":"victorian-cat-tales-and-tea-at-the-library","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atotw.com\/archive\/?p=1904","title":{"rendered":"Victorian Cat Tales and tea at the library"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear fellow Hanoverians:<br \/>\nThis June, come to the library to celebrate Pam Golden&#8217;s new book,<br \/>\nVictorian Cat Tales, Book One: The Life and Times of Rose and Leopold!<br \/>\nThe Friends of the John Curtis Free Library are very happy to announce<br \/>\na Victorian Tea for Three (adult, child, stuffed animal) on Saturday,<br \/>\nJune 1, from 2:00 &#8211; 4:00 p.m. at the library. <\/p>\n<p>Pam Golden, a local artist\/educator, has led many afternoon clay<br \/>\nclasses at the library for children. Pam&#8217;s clay sculptures illustrate<br \/>\nthe book which is written by her sister, Catherine Golden. It features<br \/>\nthe friendship between two cats &#8211; Rose and Leopold. The cat&#8217;s lives<br \/>\nintersect with the history of Queen Victoria, Price Albert, and<br \/>\nBuckingham Palace. To celebrate the publication of this book, Pam will<br \/>\nread the story while Donna and Ron Lasko (often seen at the Windsor<br \/>\nTea House in Cohasset) will talk about Victorian tea traditions,<br \/>\ndisplay some of their collections (cards, fans, and more), offer their<br \/>\nown gourmet blend of black tea with ginger, and offer one lucky<br \/>\nparticipant a beautiful tea-related door prize. The children will also<br \/>\nhave the chance to make their own Victorian souvenirs to bring home<br \/>\nand enjoy. Pam\u2019s book will be on sale for purchase after the tea.<\/p>\n<p>This is truly a charming, interesting, and fun way to spend an<br \/>\nafternoon. Children are asked to bring a special stuffed animal.<br \/>\nPlease join us and bring your favorite tea cup for service (please<br \/>\nalso bring a tea cup for the child and animal). Pastries and fruit<br \/>\nwill also be served. This event is recommended for children ages 6 and<br \/>\nup. Tickets are $5 each. You may purchase tickets at the library<br \/>\ncirculation desk downstairs now. Tickets are limited to 40, so plan to<br \/>\nbuy early.
