Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n
Historic St. Andrew’s Church located in the Four Corners area of
\nHanover needs to restore its steeple. The original church built in
\n1811 was destroyed in a fire on Christmas night 1985. The rebuild
\nincluded the entire sanctuary as well as a new steeple. While the dome
\nis intact, the wooden structure is in need of repair. St. Andrew\u2019s
\nhas therefore launched the \u201cCoins for Quoins\u201d project. A quoin is
\nan architectural part of the corners. Typically made of masonry in
\nstone structures, the quoins on the St. Andrew\u2019s steeple are made of
\nwood and there are 96 of them. To help raise funds for the repair, St.
\nAndrew’s is selling memorial quoins. Quoins in \u201cThanksgiving of\u201d
\nor in “Memory of\u201d maybe purchased for $50.00 each. A plaque listing
\nthe honorees will be placed in the entrance of the church. Any gift is
\nwelcome towards this project. Work is expected to begin at the end of
\nsummer. At completion, there will be a blessing of the steeple to
