Learn where and how paper was first made and how<br \/>\nit has changed the history of the world. Discover your inner<br \/>\ncreativity and come away with skills you can use for a lifetime.<\/p>\n<p>Students will be able to: describe the history of paper from its<br \/>\norigins in Asia to its uses today, bring samples for examination and<br \/>\ndiscussion, talk about different types and uses of paper, and<br \/>\ndemonstrate basic techniques. The final product will be a bound<br \/>\nsampler of handmade papers. Students will learn what goes into making<br \/>\na sheet of paper as well as vocabulary and household items necessary<br \/>\nto make paper. They will take a walk and find plants or other items to<br \/>\ninclude in their paper. The second session will include making a mold<br \/>\nand deckle and paper casting. Students will even learn about a scandal<br \/>\nthat involved historic Asian papers that happened right here in<br \/>\nHanover!<\/p>\n<p>Instructor: Janet Meade of Hanover is an accomplished artist. She has<br \/>\na Bachelor\u2019s degree from MASS Art and a Masters in Education<br \/>\nLeadership from Bridgewater State. She is currently a High School art<br \/>\nteacher in East Bridgewater. She lives on her farm on Center Street<br \/>\nwhich has goats, chickens, and her two dogs.<\/p>\n<p>This program is appropriate for any age from 8+ years. Cost is $200<br \/>\nand includes cost of supplies and two four hour classes. Call (781)<br \/>\n826-9575 for reservations.
