Performance and visual art comes to Hanover\u2019s John Curtis Free
\nLibrary with Betsey and Gregory Josselyn\u2019s newest work, \/This Will
\nActually Happen\/, supported in part by a grant from the Hanover
\nCultural Council on Saturday, October 19 at 3 p.m. Paintings
\nincorporated into the performance will also be on view at the library
\nfor the entire month of October. \/This Will Actually Happen\/, a
\nperformance, painting, and artifact display inspired by the early
\ntwentieth century diaries of the late Hanoverian Nora Hanson, is
\neasily belied by its apparent simplicity. But the closer you look \u2013
\nor, the harder you listen, and the more vibrantly you imagine \u2013 the
\nmore you begin to see in Nora’s period relics and life story, as her
\nseemingly mundane diary entries transform into reflections on memory
\nand inheritance, reminding listeners of their own struggles to
\nconstitute histories and identities from invisible fragments. <\/p>\n
Although the piece offers historical musings on the years leading up
\nto Nora\u2019s wedding engagement from 1919 through 1922, the real story
\nshowcases Betsey\u2019s and Gregory\u2019s process of translating all of
\nNora\u2019s archives into a cohesive art piece \u2014 to give her life again
\n\u2014 and encourage audience members to reflect on their own family
\nlegacies. It will also feature oil paintings by Betsey Josselyn of
\nNora\u2019s objects. Since the performance\u2019s original presentation in
\nLondon in May 2012, \/This Will Actually Happen\/ played at Mobius, an
\nexperimental art venue in Cambridge, Massachusetts on Norfolk Street. <\/p>\n
Betsey and Gregory Josselyn\u2019s \/This Will Actually Happen \/premieres
\nSaturday, October 19 at 3:00pm at the John Curtis Free Library, 534
\nHanover Street, Hanover, Massachusetts. The performance is free and no
\ntickets are required. Paintings will be on display at the library
