Dear fellow Hanoverians:
\nThe Friends of the John Curtis Free Library have a couple of February
\nannouncements:<\/p>\n
First, some indoor winter fun is planned for children. The Friends are
\npleased to announce two, six-week art programs for children to begin
\nsoon at the library.<\/p>\n
Pam Golden, a sculptor and art educator (www.pamgolden.com<\/p>\n
), will teach children ages 8-10 in her *Faces and Figures Workshop*
\nto create clay animals, masks, puppets, and more. This class will meet
\non 6 consecutive Tuesdays from 3:30 – 4:30 pm in the children\u2019s room
\nat the library beginning January 28 and running through until Tuesday,
\nMarch 4 (goes through February vacation week).<\/p>\n
*Kreative Kids*, taught by Karen Cass, a Hanover artist and private
\neducator (www.karencass.com
\n), will provide children ages 3-5 with an introduction to basic art
\ntechniques while focusing on nature and the winter season. This class
\nwill meet on Wednesdays at the library from 11 am – 12 pm beginning on
\nFebruary 5. This class will run until March 19, skipping the February
\nvacation week (February 19).<\/p>\n
Each class will support 10 children and is fully funded by the Friends
\nof the Library with participants asked to pay only a $10 supply fee.
\nRegistration is happening now at the children\u2019s circulation desk at
\nthe library with your $10 supply payment. Preference is given to
\nchildren who have not taken this class before.<\/p>\n
Also, the Friends are seeking new volunteers this February. A *meeting
\nfor new volunteers will be held on Saturday, February 1* at 10:30 am
\nat the library. Please consider joining this great group to enhance
\nour wonderful library. If you are unable to attend the new volunteer
\nmeeting, please plan to attend our *Annual Meeting on Monday, February
\n24, at 6:30 pm in the library*. The Friends hope to see you at one of
\nthese events!<\/p>\n
