Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n
Hanover Town Clerk Cathy Harder-Bernier announced today that
\nnomination papers are available in her office for the Annual Town
\nElection scheduled to be held May 10th, 2014.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have been encouraged by the spirit in the community of late
\nregarding the ties that bind us. Running for elected office is yet
\nanother way to be a part of the fabric of our community. I heartily
\nencourage my fellow citizens to consider running for office and
\nbecoming more involved in our terrific small town,\u201d Harder-Bernier
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
On the ballot this spring will be elections for two members of the
\nBoard of Selectmen for a three year term each, two members of the
\nSchool Committee for a three year term each, three members of the
\nHousing Authority (one term for five years, one term for four years,
\nand one term for three years), two members of the Board of Assessors
\n(one for a three year term and one for one year), one member of the
\nPlanning Board for a five year term, one Board of Health member for a
\nthree year term, one member of the Board of Public Works for a three
\nyear term, one Trustee of the Public Library for a three year term and
\none Moderator for a one year term.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith that many positions on the ballot, there is room for interest
\non the part of many people from all corners of Hanover,\u201d said
\nHarder-Bernier. \u201cIt should be an exciting election season.\u201d
\nInterested residents are encouraged to contact the Town Clerk\u2019s
\nOffice, any of the related departments, or sitting members of the
\nboard or committee they are interested in becoming a part of in order
\nto gain more information about an open position. <\/p>\n
To run for office, candidates initially need to obtain 50 signatures
\nof registered Hanover voters in order to be placed on the ballot.
\nCandidates for office have until Thursday, March 20th to obtain
\nnomination papers from the Town Clerk\u2019s Office, and until Monday,
\nMarch 24th to submit the signed nomination papers to the Registrar\u2019s
\nOffice for signature certification.<\/p>\n
