I love it when businesses step up to the<br \/>\nplate and offer to make Hanover a better place to live. Read on!<br \/>\nThe Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation has begun accepting<br \/>\napplications for grants that seek to improve the quality of education<br \/>\nfor children in kindergarten through Grade 12 as part of its annual<br \/>\n\u201cTargeted Grants\u201d program.<br \/>\nDubbed \u201cK-12 Student Success,\u201d the Charitable Foundation is<br \/>\nlooking for nonprofits to submit proposals that fund programs or<br \/>\ninitiatives aimed at improving the quality of childhood education<br \/>\nbetween kindergarten through Grade 12. The Foundation plans to<br \/>\ndistribute more than $1 million in targeted grants as part of its<br \/>\noverall annual donations.<br \/>\n\u201cThere&#8217;s no greater contribution we can make to our communities than<br \/>\nensuring that all our children have equal access to a quality<br \/>\neducation and a bright future,\u201d said Laura Kurzrok, Executive<br \/>\nDirector of the Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation. \u201cOur goal is for<br \/>\nall children in our communities to graduate from high school educated,<br \/>\ninformed and prepared for a sustainable career or the rigors of higher<br \/>\neducation.\u201d Programs to be supported include, but are not limited<br \/>\nto:<br \/>\n\u2022 In-school Academic Enrichment \u2013 Academic enrichment programs<br \/>\nthat support students during their school day;<br \/>\n\u2022 After-school Academic Enrichment \u2013Academic enrichment programs<br \/>\nthat support students after their school day;<br \/>\n\u2022 Technology Enhancements \u2013 Providing resources to students with<br \/>\nlimited access to necessary technology;<br \/>\n\u2022 Mentoring \u2013 In-and-out of school programs designed to support<br \/>\nstudents academically and emotionally;<br \/>\n\u2022 Eliminating Barriers to Success \u2013 Programs addressing the myriad<br \/>\nof complex issues impacting student success.<br \/>\nThe Charitable Foundation plans to award grants ranging from $10,000<br \/>\nto $50,000, with the majority of the awards granted in the $10,000 to<br \/>\n$15,000 range. The grants will be reviewed annually and requests must<br \/>\nbe submitted by March 1, 2014.
