\nIs there a non-profit in Hanover that would like to support
\nHanover\u2019s K-12 students? I love it when businesses step up to the
\nplate and offer to make Hanover a better place to live. Read on!
\nThe Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation has begun accepting
\napplications for grants that seek to improve the quality of education
\nfor children in kindergarten through Grade 12 as part of its annual
\n\u201cTargeted Grants\u201d program.
\nDubbed \u201cK-12 Student Success,\u201d the Charitable Foundation is
\nlooking for nonprofits to submit proposals that fund programs or
\ninitiatives aimed at improving the quality of childhood education
\nbetween kindergarten through Grade 12. The Foundation plans to
\ndistribute more than $1 million in targeted grants as part of its
\noverall annual donations.
\n\u201cThere’s no greater contribution we can make to our communities than
\nensuring that all our children have equal access to a quality
\neducation and a bright future,\u201d said Laura Kurzrok, Executive
\nDirector of the Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation. \u201cOur goal is for
\nall children in our communities to graduate from high school educated,
\ninformed and prepared for a sustainable career or the rigors of higher
\neducation.\u201d Programs to be supported include, but are not limited
\nto:
\n\u2022 In-school Academic Enrichment \u2013 Academic enrichment programs
\nthat support students during their school day;
\n\u2022 After-school Academic Enrichment \u2013Academic enrichment programs
\nthat support students after their school day;
\n\u2022 Technology Enhancements \u2013 Providing resources to students with
\nlimited access to necessary technology;
\n\u2022 Mentoring \u2013 In-and-out of school programs designed to support
\nstudents academically and emotionally;
\n\u2022 Eliminating Barriers to Success \u2013 Programs addressing the myriad
\nof complex issues impacting student success.
\nThe Charitable Foundation plans to award grants ranging from $10,000
\nto $50,000, with the majority of the awards granted in the $10,000 to
\n$15,000 range. The grants will be reviewed annually and requests must
\nbe submitted by March 1, 2014. For more information and to apply for a
