Dear fellow Hanoverians:
\nOn Wednesday, February 5 at 7:00 p.m., the Conservation Commission
\nwill hold a meeting at town hall to discuss a proposal to revise the
\nhunting policy in the Town of Hanover. The proposed changes would be
\nto open all Town properties under the Conservation Commission\u2019s
\ncontrol for bow hunting as defined in State Department of Fisheries
\nand Wildlife Hunting Regulations. Areas with active recreation such as
\nLuddam\u2019s Ford and Forge Pond Park would be excluded. The proposal
\nwould permit hunting in the spring, fall and winter, since bow hunting
\nis allowed for more than just deer hunting (such as turkey and
\ncoyote).
\nCurrently bow hunting for deer is allowed on the Summer Street and
\nClark Bog site. This proposed change would allow for bow hunting in
\nareas such as Colby Phillips, Fireworks, Merry property (behind the
\nFire Museum on Broadway), Pine Island Trails and Indian Head\/Riverside
\nland. These areas have numerous walking trails that are used by Town
\nresidents throughout the year. If you have thoughts about the impact
\nof the proposed changes, please plan to attend the meeting.
