Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n
Hanover Town Clerk Cathy Harder-Bernier encouraged her fellow citizens to
\nbecome more involved in town by running for elected office. \u201cTen
\ncandidates have pulled nomination papers to date for the fourteen total
\nseats available,\u201d said Harder-Bernier. \u201cThe deadline to pull papers is
\nthe first day of spring, Thursday, March 20th, at 5:00 p.m. My office will
\nbe open late and I will look forward to walking people through the initial
\nsteps of the process,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
On the ballot this May will be elections for two members of the Board of
\nSelectmen for a three year term each, two members of the School Committee
\nfor a three year term each, three members of the Housing Authority (one
\nterm for five years, one term for four years, and one term for three
\nyears), two members of the Board of Assessors (one for a three year term
\nand one for one year), one member of the Planning Board for a five year
\nterm, one Board of Health member for a three year term, one member of the
\nBoard of Public Works for a three year term, one Trustee of the Public
\nLibrary for a three year term and one Moderator for a one year term.<\/p>\n
\u201cRunning for elected office was one of the highlights of my years of
\nservice to Hanover, and I heartily encourage others to follow suit,\u201d said
\nHarder-Bernier. \u201cIt\u2019s not as daunting as one may think initially; in
\nfact, it\u2019s a lot of fun. Collecting 50 signatures of registered voters
\non nomination papers is all that is needed to get the ball rolling. Both
\nnewcomers and long-time community volunteers are encouraged and welcomed to
\nrun for office,\u201d explained Harder-Bernier.<\/p>\n
Election Day in Hanover is May 10th and the last day to register to vote is
\nApril 15th. For more information about the election process and related
