\nThe Boston Division of the FBI, Hanover Police Department, Hanover Fire
\nDepartment, The Hanover Mall Management CBL & Associates Inc., and Mall
\nPublic Safety Universal Protection Services LLC, Department of Homeland
\nSecurity (DHS), Massachusetts State Police, and Metropolitan Law
\nEnforcement Council (MetroLEC) hosted a training exercise to simulate a
\ncomplex attack in a public venue. The exercise began on Thursday, May 15,
\nat 11:30 p.m. at The Hanover Mall and was successfully completed overnight.<\/p>\n
Nationally, the FBI and DHS are partnering with state and local law
\nenforcement, fire, and emergency medical services (EMS) and various private
\nsector partners to conduct exercises as part of the final phase of the
\nComplex Mall Attack initiative, which was developed to promote
\npreparedness. In 2013, all FBI field offices hosted facilitated discussions
\nwith public safety and private sector partners that focused on
\npreparedness, response, and recovery efforts necessary to effectively
\naddress a complex attack. The FBI is committed to strengthening public
\nsafety and private sector partnerships necessary to protect the United
\nStates and its citizens.<\/p>\n
Hanover Chief of Police Walter L. Sweeney said, \u201cIn an effort to best
\nprepare for responding to critical incidents in the community, the Hanover
\nPolice Department welcomed the opportunity to work with our federal, state,
\nregional, and local law enforcement and public safety partners. Our
\ncontinuing partnership with The Hanover Mall provided a realistic venue for
\nthe training exercise. This exercise has strengthened the Hanover Police
\nDepartment\u2019s ability to respond to and coordinate public safety efforts
\nduring a critical incident.\u201d<\/p>\n
