Dear fellow Hanoverians:
\nState Representative Rhonda L. Nyman (D-Hanover) joined her colleagues and
\nthe Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women on Thursday, May 29 to
\nhonor Hanover Council on Aging Director Robyn Mitton as an Unsung Heroine.<\/p>\n
Mitton, of Brockton, has been the Director of the Hanover Senior Center for
\nthe past 10 years. She led the charge in moving into Hanover\u2019s state of
\nthe art senior center while tripling attendance and adding more wellness
\nand educational programs to meet the ever changing needs of Hanover\u2019s
\nseniors. <\/p>\n
Representative Nyman nominated Mitton for the award while citing her
\nability to not only deal with day to day issues that face seniors, but also
\nto see the big picture and prepare for future needs.<\/p>\n
\u201cRobyn highlights what a Senior Center Director should be,\u201d said
\nRepresentative Nyman, \u201cthat is, someone who understands and cherishes the
\nnotion that our seniors bring the experience, passion, and ability to
\ncontribute that forms the heart of any community.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Unsung Heroines are women who don\u2019t always make the news, but truly
\nmake a difference. They are the women who use their time, talent and
\nenthusiasm to enrich the lives of others and make a difference in their
\nneighborhoods, cities and towns. They are mentors, volunteers and
\ninnovators who do what needs to be done without expectations of recognition
\nor gratitude. These women are the glue that keeps a community together and
\nevery community has them.<\/p>\n
