\nHANOVER CULTURAL COUNCIL SEEKS FUNDING PROPOSALS<\/p>\n
Proposals for community-oriented arts, humanities, and science programs are
\ndue October 15.
\nThe Hanover Cultural Council has set an October 15 postmark deadline for
\norganizations, schools and individuals to apply for grants that support
\ncultural activities in the community. <\/p>\n
According to Council spokesperson Karen Cass, these grants can support a
\nvariety of artistic projects and activities in Hanover — including
\nexhibits, festivals, field trips, short-term artist residencies or
\nperformances in schools, workshops and lectures. <\/p>\n
The Hanover Cultural Council is part of a network of 329 Local Cultural
\nCouncils serving all 351 cities and towns in the Commonwealth. The LCC
\nProgram is the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation,
\nsupporting thousands of community-based projects in the arts, sciences and
\nhumanities every year. The state legislature provides an annual
\nappropriation to the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, which
\nthen allocates funds to each community. <\/p>\n
This year, the Hanover Cultural Council will distribute about $4,300 in
\ngrants. Previously funded projects include: “The Music Man” play at the
\nHanover Middle School, “Beyond the Classroom” Art Exhibit for Teachers on
\nthe South Shore, Theatrical Magic at the John Curtis Free Library, The
\nVisiting Artist Program at Center\/Sylvester Schools, and Diversity Day at
\nthe South Shore Children’s Museum, to name only a few! Of course, the
\nAnnual Hanover Day Celebration is the Cultural Council’s largest
\nundertaking, and this event allows the Council to fund bigger and better
\nprojects each year which enrich our community.<\/p>\n
