Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n
Hanover Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier announced today that the Town
\nof Hanover has successfully implemented changes she recommended last year
\nto the process the town\u2019s boards and committees use to notify the public
\nof upcoming meetings and related agendas. \u201cGone are the days of posting
\npaper meeting notices on bulletin boards that nobody reads or has easy
\naccess to. This has been a terrific collaborative effort across the entire
\ntown. The Board of Selectmen passed the new policy last August. Boards
\nand committees have been practicing and training how to post meetings on
\nthe town\u2019s website since last fall. Tom Nee, the Computer Coordinator,
\nhas done yeoman\u2019s work to add scores of new web page administrators to
\nthe town\u2019s rolls and assist them with the technical issues. We\u2019ve
\ndistributed training materials and held a training session. Town employees
\nand committee volunteers have patiently learned how to navigate their way
\nthrough the technical steps involved. The Commonwealth\u2019s Division of
\nOpen Government has been notified. And on January 1st, 2015 we went
\nlive,\u201d announced Harder-Bernier.<\/p>\n
Residents are encouraged to navigate to the front page of the town\u2019s
\nwebsite, found at www.hanover-ma.gov , and click on the calendar icon on
\nthe right hand side. There they will find meeting notices and agendas for
\nevery public body in Hanover that is meeting in the near future. All of
\nthe requirements of the Open Meeting Law will still apply, such as 48
\nweekday hours\u2019 notice will be given, and agendas will be attached.
\n\u201cResidents of Hanover will be able to easily access important information
\nthat will help them to engage in the process of running our town,\u201d said
\nHarder-Bernier. \u201cThe information will be available 24 hours a day, 7
\ndays a week, and will be yet another transparent window into our
\ngovernment.\u201d<\/p>\n
In addition to this new \u201calternate meeting posting\u201d process, the Town
\nhas also added a new computer kiosk outside the Town Clerk\u2019s Office for
\nresidents who might not have access to a computer. \u201cThere are still
\npeople in town who do not have access to a computer, and even those with
\ncomputers might have technical issues that prevent them from accessing the
\ninformation on any given day,\u201d noted Harder-Bernier. \u201cI am delighted
\nto further announce that a public access computer terminal is now also
\navailable here outside my office during normal business hours. Come check
\nit out!\u201d<\/p>\n
