{"id":2513,"date":"2015-09-11T09:17:30","date_gmt":"2015-09-11T13:17:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/atotw.com\/archive\/?p=2513"},"modified":"2015-09-11T09:17:30","modified_gmt":"2015-09-11T13:17:30","slug":"hanover-cultural-council-seeks-funding-proposals-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atotw.com\/archive\/?p=2513","title":{"rendered":"Hanover Cultural Council seeks funding proposals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n<p>The Hanover Cultural Council has set an October 15 postmark deadline for<br \/>\norganizations, schools and individuals to apply for grants that support<br \/>\ncultural activities in the community. <\/p>\n<p>According to Council spokesperson Karen Cass, these grants can support a<br \/>\nvariety of artistic projects and activities in Hanover &#8212; including<br \/>\nexhibits, festivals, field trips, short-term artist residencies or<br \/>\nperformances in schools, workshops and lectures. <\/p>\n<p>The Hanover Cultural Council is part of a network of 329 Local Cultural<br \/>\nCouncils serving all 351 cities and towns in the Commonwealth. The LCC<br \/>\nProgram is the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation,<br \/>\nsupporting thousands of community-based projects in the arts, sciences and<br \/>\nhumanities every year. The state legislature provides an annual<br \/>\nappropriation to the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, which<br \/>\nthen allocates funds to each community. <\/p>\n<p>Over the past year, the Hanover Cultural Council distributed over $17,000<br \/>\nin grants. Previously funded projects include: The Council on Aging Holiday<br \/>\nConcert, \u201cThe Sound of Music\u201d production at Hanover High School, The<br \/>\nDinner Theater program at SSVT, \u201cPlayhouses for Humanity\u201d \u2013building<br \/>\nproject at HHS, The Nature\u2019s Classroom project at Center and Sylvester<br \/>\nSchools, several museum passes and programs at the John Curtis Library, and<br \/>\na writing workshop at the Hanover Middle School, \u201cWicked Weird Story<br \/>\nStarters\u201d, to name just a few! <\/p>\n<p>The FY16 Allocation to Hanover from the Mass Cultural Council is $4700, and<br \/>\nadditional funds are available, thanks to the tireless efforts of our<br \/>\nHanover Day Committee. The spectacular success of Hanover Day, our annual<br \/>\ntown celebration which features an incredible array of live entertainment,<br \/>\n150 artisans and vendors, a community art project and contest, countless<br \/>\nchildren\u2019s activities and fireworks, we are proud to give back to the<br \/>\ncommunity in the form of additional funding for worthy arts and sciences<br \/>\nprojects throughout the year!
