Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n
Number 2 seeded Hanover High School varsity field hockey team continued
\ntheir winning ways with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Holliston today in
\nthe Division 2 South Sectional Semi-Finals. The Lady Indians took the
\nfield in the sideways rain and were undaunted, and Sam Taylor scored with
\n18 minutes left in the first half on an assist from Brielle Prouty to seal
\nthe win. <\/p>\n
Holliston fought back hard in the second half with the ball rarely leaving
\ntheir offensive end. No matter, Hanover’s defense played up to all of
\ntheir hype and kept the ball out of the net. Senior goalie Molly Cameron,
\nwho has had only four goals scored on her in 21 games, earned the shutout
\nwith a solid defensive effort in front of her from sweeper Erica Nelson,
\nstopper back Jen Rosinski, and fullback Jessica Gardner among others.<\/p>\n
With today’s win, Hanover earned their first South Sectional Division Two
\nfinal berth since 1993. I, as your intrepid reporter, humbly mention that
\nI was also an assistant coach back in 1993 with 500+ win head coach Judy
\nSchneider, and we both think this team equals if not exceeds that team.
\nThis is simply a remarkably special group of young ladies, and I personally
\nthink they have it in them to pull off what has never been accomplished in
\nHanover High School history – a South Sectional Final Championship. Let’s
\ndo this!<\/p>\n
The Indians take the field on Saturday, November 21 against Cohasset, the
\nnumber one seed, at Oliver Ames High School in Easton. Game time is 11:00
\na.m. Come join us!<\/p>\n
