Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n
Hanover Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier announced today that nomination
\npapers are now available in her office for the Annual Town Election
\nscheduled to be held May 7th, 2016.<\/p>\n
\u201cElection Day is set for May 7th and signed nomination papers are due
\nMarch 21st. It\u2019s an exciting election year thanks to the Presidential
\nElection; I hope that translates to some interest at the town level in
\nrunning for office,\u201d said Harder-Bernier.<\/p>\n
On the ballot this spring will be elections for one member of the Board of
\nSelectmen for a three year term, one member of the School Committee for a
\nthree year term, one member of the Board of Assessors for a three year
\nterm, two members of the Planning Board \u2013 one for a five year term and
\none for a three year term, one Board of Health member for a three year
\nterm, one member of the Board of Public Works for a three year term, one
\nTrustee of the Public Library for a three year term, one Town Clerk for a
\nthree year term, and one Moderator for a one year term.<\/p>\n
Interested residents are encouraged to contact the Town Clerk\u2019s Office,
\nany of the related departments, or sitting members of the board or
\ncommittee they are interested in becoming a part of in order to gain more
\ninformation about an open position. <\/p>\n
To run for office, candidates only need to obtain 50 signatures of
\nregistered Hanover voters in order to be placed on the ballot. Candidates
\nfor office have until Monday, March 21st to submit the signed nomination
\npapers to the Registrar\u2019s Office for signature certification. <\/p>\n
