This just in from American Legion Commander and Spirit of Hanover Community
\nService Award winner Ray A. Miller:<\/p>\n
The Hanover Memorial Day Parade will kick off from Saint Mary’s rectory at
\n10:00 a.m. sharp on May 30th so come out and get a good spot. The parade
\nwill be led by the veterans followed by the Ladies Auxiliary and Sons of
\nLegion. A donated automobile will drive some veterans who cannot walk. The
\ntown officials will also be walking followed by the Hanover High School
\nBand. The Police and Fire Departments will follow the Hanover High School
\nBand with new and antique fire trucks. The Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts
\nfollow as well as Little Leaguers and Softball players. Coming along behind
\nwill be some antique cars and last but not least is a Calvary-dressed
\nperson on a horse.<\/p>\n
The march will begin at Saint Mary’s and pass by the first ever “Flags of
\nValor” near the new bandstand. The veterans will stop off at the first
\nmemorial at Sylvester School to honor the WWI veterans. The second stop
\nwill be at First Congregational Church to honor the Civil War veterans. We
\nwill then march to the Hanover Center Cemetery where we will honor several
\nsites including Joselyn and Cummings as well as the American Legion, VFW
\nand Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. We will also honor all fallen heroes from
\nthe Police Department and Fire Department.<\/p>\n
The march will continue out of the cemetery and conclude at the Hanover
\nTown Hall to recognize the WWII, Vietnam and Korean Veterans. The ceremony
\nwill conclude by a moment of silence, speeches from various dignitaries and
\nthe Commander of the American Legion. The Hanover High VOX will sing
\npatriotic songs as well as the Hanover High School Band will be playing
\nsome patriotic tunes.<\/p>\n
