{"id":2725,"date":"2016-06-26T09:00:15","date_gmt":"2016-06-26T13:00:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/atotw.com\/archive\/?p=2725"},"modified":"2016-06-26T09:00:15","modified_gmt":"2016-06-26T13:00:15","slug":"new-habitat-restore-is-now-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atotw.com\/archive\/?p=2725","title":{"rendered":"New Habitat Restore is now open!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n<p>South Shore Habitat for Humanity proudly announces the grand opening of its<br \/>\nfirst Habitat ReStore located at 357 Columbia Road in Hanover \u2013 next to<br \/>\nthe new Planet Fitness on the southern end of Route 53.<\/p>\n<p>The SSHH ReStore is modeled after many other successful Habitat ReStores<br \/>\naround the country. ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and<br \/>\ndonation centers that sell new and gently used furniture, home accessories,<br \/>\nbuilding materials and appliances to the public at a fraction of the retail<br \/>\nprice. Habitat ReStores use the funds raised to support the local mission. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter,\u201d<br \/>\nstated Martine Taylor, Executive Director.  \u201cThis store will enable us to<br \/>\nraise awareness about affordable housing, increase revenue, and engage more<br \/>\nvolunteers in our mission.\u201d  Mark Anderson, the new ReStore Manager,<br \/>\nexplained that, \u201cevery item donated and sold at the ReStore plays a vital<br \/>\nrole in improving the lives of families in need of better housing, and at<br \/>\nthe same time, we are doing our part to protect our environment,\u201d<br \/>\nremarked Anderson. <\/p>\n<p>The new Habitat Restore in Hanover is one of the more than 900 Habitat<br \/>\nReStores located in the United States, Canada, Australia, South America,<br \/>\nNew Zealand and Northern Ireland. In addition to the revenue generated for<br \/>\nits programs, ReStores help to protect the environment. In 2014, ReStore<br \/>\ndonations diverted more than 128,000 tons of building materials from<br \/>\nlandfills by giving reusable items a second life.  To shop, donate, or<br \/>\nvolunteer, visit www.sshabitat.org . <\/p>\n<p>South Shore Habitat for Humanity is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization<br \/>\ndedicated to delivering simple, decent, affordable homes in partnership<br \/>\nwith families in need. SSHH is based in Weymouth and serves 35 cities and<br \/>\ntowns south and southwest of Boston. Founded in 1986 as an independent,<br \/>\nnonprofit organization, SSHH works in partnership with families,<br \/>\nvolunteers, faith partners, and community and business leaders to help<br \/>\nlocal families living in inadequate housing move into simple, decent,<br \/>\naffordable homes of their own. Since its inception the organization has<br \/>\nbuilt 55 homes and has provided housing for more than 96 adults and 192<br \/>\nchildren. Today, South Shore Habitat homes are located in Abington,<br \/>\nBraintree, Brockton, Cohasset, Duxbury, Easton, Hanover, Hanson, Hingham,<br \/>\nMarshfield, Medway, Norwell, Pembroke, Quincy, Randolph, Rockland,<br \/>\nScituate, Stoughton, Sharon, Weymouth and Whitman.
