Do you have stuff that\u2019s too bad for the trash?<\/p>\n
The South Shore Recycling Cooperative will host a household hazardous waste
\ncollection in Hanover this fall. Residents may attend at no charge. <\/p>\n
The collection is scheduled from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. as follows:<\/p>\n
10\/15 at Hanover Transfer Station, 118 Rockland St. (Rt. 139)<\/p>\n
The town may limit subsidized quantities to 25 gal. or 50 lb.
\nCommercial generators, call 1-617-852-3086 to arrange disposal and payment.<\/p>\n
Bring: Oil based paint*, stains*, automotive fluids*, solvents, gasoline,
\nherbicides, pesticides, adhesives, photography and pool chemicals, acids,
\nbases, and toxins in secure, labeled containers.
\nDo not bring: non-hazardous waste (i.e. latex paint**, alkaline batteries,
\nice melt, smoke detectors, construction waste), industrial, pathological
\nand medical* waste, radioactive materials, pressurized gas cylinders* or
\nexplosives. <\/p>\n
*Oil based paint, propane tanks, motor oil, antifreeze, medical sharps,
\nrechargeable batteries, and fluorescent lamps are collected regularly by
\nmany towns and retailers. Residents should use those services if
\navailable. Go to ssrcoop.info, click on \u201cTown Programs\u201d.<\/p>\n
Usable latex paint will be accepted for free by The Paint Exchange LLC of
\nRockland. TPE remanufactures it into new paint. TPE also accepts it at
\ntheir Rockland facility for a fee of $2\/can. To see if your paint
\nqualifies, and for hours of operation, go to ssrcoop.info\/, click on
\n\u201cHazardous Waste\u201d, Material not accepted, or call 339-214-8462.
\nOtherwise, absorb liquid with cat litter and dispose in trash. <\/p>\n
Stericycle Environmental will conduct the collections. For more
