Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As previously discussed in this space, the Board of Health
\nin the Town of Hanover is considering some changes to its regulations.  For
\nthose who need a brief re-cap, here’s the scoop.  The current BOH regulations
\ncan be found at:  <\/p>\n

\n.  Among other pieces of information, you will note that the current
\nregulations state the following in reference to fences, corrals, pens and other
\ntypes of enclosures for “cows, cattle, horses, goats, sheep, swine,
\npoultry, birds, or reptiles”:<\/p>\n

“Any such enclosure must
\nbe a minimum of 25 feet from a public way, 100 feet from a well, stream or
\nother domestic water supply and 100 feet from any wetland as defined M.G.L. 131
\nsec. 40, 75 feet from an abutter’s dwelling or commercial building, and
\n50 feet from a property line.”  <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The new proposed regulations have also been posted to the
\nTown’s website, and they were discussed at a hearing last month.

\n.  You will note that at least one of the proposed changes refers to the
\nfence issue, and it reads as follows:  “Corrals or any other type of
\nenclosure meant for animal containment shall be a minimum of three (3’)
\nfrom the property line.”  There are additional setbacks for
\nstructures, too.<\/p>\n

Over 60 people attended last month’s hearing, which
\nwas continued until this month.  The hearing will be held next Tuesday,
\nMarch 10th, at 7:00 p.m. at town hall.<\/b><\/p>\n
