Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier announced Friday evening that the
\nresults of the November 8th State Election have been finalized and
\ncertified.<\/p>\n
“After waiting the legally-required ten days, dozens of hand-counted,
\noverseas, and military ballots have now been added to the unofficial
\nresults from last Tuesday’s election,” said Harder-Bernier. “Hanover
\nshould be proud of its 84.5% turnout, but this number is slightly less than
\nour average turnout from the previous three presidential elections.
\nRegardless, it far exceeds the national average of 58 – 62% over the last
\nthree presidentials,” she continued.<\/p>\n
48% of Hanover residents voted for Donald Trump, with 42% voting for
\nHillary Clinton. Newcomer and Hanover resident Kara Nyman narrowly edged
\nDavid DeCoste for Representative in General Court in Hanover, but DeCoste
\nwas re-elected to the seat after Norwell and Rockland vote totals were
\nadded to the overall race results. Long-time political leader Daniel
\nPallotta was re-elected to another term as Plymouth County Commissioner,
\nand he easily won his hometown of Hanover as well. Hanover appeared to
\nhave the second highest “no” vote total on Question Four (the legalization
\nof marijuana) in the state as of this writing. 58% of voters voted against
\nthe measure which nevertheless passed state-wide.<\/p>\n
